Thoughts for Tuesday, May 17th

Outside my windows… it was snowing yesterday, but today is sunny with green grass covering the lawn. Yes, Maine weather is weird!

Inside my house… we had to light the stove again yesterday because of the cold. Really hoping that this was the last time until Fall…

Counting 1000 gifts… sharing funny stories of my growing up years with my kids.

Prayers of the heart… this is going to be one busy summer. Praying that everything goes smoothly!

What the (not quite so) little ones are up to… Munchkin has taken a shine to creating LEGO videos lately. It’s been fun to see what she comes up with!

From my playlist… The Sound of Silence. Interestingly, a particular line from this song has sparked an idea for a short story.

From my reading list… I’m listening to the audiobook of Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. It’s fascinating, but as I get closer to the end, I’m looking for some really good science fiction to start on! The last few sci fi books that I’ve read have been either meh or headdesk. Suggestions?

From my needlework basket… a cotton cardigan for me. There aren’t many weeks out of the year when I don’t want a sweater handy!

In the learning room… we’re starting to wrap up a subject or two. It’s satisfying to get to the end of a Math book!

Random ramblings… One of my favorite kitchen items at the moment is a big, one-gallon glass jar that my grandmother gave me. According to the lid, it once held canned fruit. If I ever see more of these at a yard sale, I’m snapping them up! It’s the best cookie jar I’ve ever had, and an absolute must for making a batch of sun tea. I recall visiting my great-grandmother during the summer, and it seemed like she always had one of these jars sitting on her porch with a batch of sun tea in it.

Profound ponderings… “No amount of security is worth the suffering of a mediocre life chained to a routine that has killed your dreams.” – Maya Mendoza
