Thoughts for Tuesday, March 21st

Outside my windows… there’s still a fairly large pile of snow, but there are patches of bare ground in the driveway.

Inside my house… I’m itching to start opening windows!

Counting 1000 gifts… weird, quirky, still-not-warm Maine weather.

Prayers of the heart… thankful that two things that weighed heavily on me have been taken care of.

What the (not quite so) little ones are up to… the boys have created some kind of game that I don’t completely understand, while Munchkin has been outlining stories.

From my playlist… We All Fall Down by Bon Jovi

From my reading list… The Fellowship, which is a book about four members of The Inklings. (Tolkien and Lewis are two of the four.) Plot & Structure by James Scott Bell. Hoping that reading it will help me write a better first draft next month.

From my needlework basket… a shawl in yellow, gray, and sky blue – all of the colors of the sky!

In the learning room… I’ve considered making a poster reminding the kids to label the answers to word problems. 3? 3 what? Yards? Inches? Decibels? Watermelons? I’m sure every teacher I ever had is laughing right about now!

Random ramblings… So… I have decided to do Camp NaNoWriMo. I am clearly crazy. I’m going to write a first draft of a book idea that I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. Started out when I read a paper on “The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence“. Inspiration comes from strange places at times, and yes, I do read strange things. I’m not doing an evil AI story or a Pinocchio scenario either. I’m up to my elbows in character sketches and plot outlines at the moment!

Profound ponderings… “To write something, you have to risk making a fool of yourself.” – Anne Rice

Caught on film…
