Tuesday Thoughts

Thoughts for Tuesday, July 31st

Outside my windows… the yellow flowers in the back yard are in bloom. I don’t know what they are or who originally planted them, but they are quite pretty.

Inside my house… the chaos of prepping for school has descended. I have a month before we start the new academic year, but there’s plenty to get sorted between now and then.

Counting 1000 gifts… whatever wonderful numbing agent they use when filling a tooth. I’m so thankful that I live in a country and time when I can have a filling done without a lot of pain to go with it.

Prayers of the heart… that’s I’ll have wisdom sorting out the last of the details of Munchkin’s first year of high school. (At what point will she outgrow that nickname, I wonder? At this point, she’s still OK with it.)

What the (not quite so) little ones are up to… enjoying a month off before jumping into their studies again. There’s a variety of LEGO, computer, and art projects going on around here this afternoon.

From my playlist… the soundtrack of life for a change!

From my reading list… I just finished Tamara Leigh’s The Raveling, and have not yet decided on what to start reading next. Too many good books on my to be read pile, but that’s a happy sort of problem to have!

From my needlework basket… I started knitting a random baby blanket. I like knitting tiny things for babies, and while I no longer have any tiny ones in my home, there are plenty of other people I care about who do.

In the learning room… bags of school supplies litter the room, boxes of books to move to other shelves, and books for this fall that need to be put on our “active” shelves. I’ve got more than half of the digital planning done for the year though, so that’s something!

Random ramblings… I turned 38 yesterday. My birthday was… a Monday. It ended with cake though, and that’s always a nice way to end your day! Today included a dental appointment, fighting with a couple hundred perforated pages, and forgetting to turn on the dishwasher several times throughout the day. (A running dishwasher is basically white noise right? So, it will help us sleep…) I’m basically fighting the urge to be grumpy at this point, and also realizing that my secret chocolate stash has been depleted.

Profound ponderings… “It is no bad thing to celebrate a simple life.” – JRR Tolkien

Caught on film…
