Thoughts for Tuesday, February 23rd

Outside my windows… turkeys! There is a flock of turkeys (are they called a flock?) that have been hanging out in our back yard for a couple of weeks now. The kiddos have enjoyed keeping an eye out for them each day. It’s like Where’s Waldo, but with turkeys.

Inside my house… I’ve established a box for the books that are arriving for the next school year. I keep an eye on the used and discount book sites for the books on my list, so I have to start early. It also helps to spread the cost out a bit!

Counting 1000 gifts… pen and paper. Both are readily available where I live, but that’s not the case everywhere. Certainly, it has not always been that way throughout history.

Prayers of the heart… right now are just that things will sort themselves out soon. Normal “life” stuff can be stressful when it starts to add up.

What the (not quite so) little ones are up to… they are taking an outdoor “recess” break to go check on the turkeys.

From my playlist… the audiobook Leonard, by William Shatner.

From my reading list… deciding what to read next! I heard a lot of good about the Masterpiece show Poldark, and finally watched it myself via Amazon Prime Video. It was a fascinating show, and I discovered that it’s based on a 12 book series. Naturally, I’m considering reading the books. Has anyone out there read the Podark books? What did you think?

From my needlework basket… still knitting socks. Though I did take some time out this weekend to knit a mug cozy. Why yes, my mug is wearing a hand knit sweater, but that doesn’t make me crazy…

In the learning room… First week back after a week off for February break, and it’s going smoothly so far. I feel like we’ve hit our stride for the year, but I’m almost afraid to type that because I’m sure something interesting will happen!

Random ramblings… I’m gathering the courage to take a leap with my writing. We’ll see how that goes over the next few weeks while I get my ducks in a row…

Profound ponderings… “Write only what you love, and love what you write. The key word is love. You have to get up in the morning and write something you love, something to live for.” – Ray Bradbury

Caught on film…

Lesson planning and trying out my new mug cozy! #homeschool
