Thoughts for Tuesday, December 13th

Outside my windows… the sun sets so early now, that it’s quite dark by dinnertime.

Inside my house… I’m plotting where to fit a desk for me in the school/dining room. I think I’ve picked my spot…

Counting 1000 gifts… falling snow. Even I have to admit that it’s pretty…

Prayers of the heart… that all the things that need to be finished by the end of 2016 will be.

What the (not quite so) little ones are up to… new episodes of Rescue Bots are on Netflix, so they’re watching those while dinner finishes baking.

From my playlist… songs from Muppet Family Christmas. I can sing along with all of them!

From my reading list… Candy Cane Kisses novella collection for fun, and Make it Happen for thinking about.

From my needlework basket… It’s not completely crazy to decide to make yourself a sweater in the week and a half before Christmas because you hate clothes shopping, is it?

In the learning room… LEGO.com has a lovely advent calendar project! You get instructions for a new build each day. It’s a great way to get something a little educational but fun into our winter break!

Random ramblings… Sometimes, especially if you are working in sales or customer service, Christmas isn’t filled with quite as much “goodwill towards men” as you’d think. Ask any cashier at a coffee shop or the local department store! Christmas means that things will be busy, and customers will be stressed. I can’t change the fact that the person ringing up our purchases in Walmart is going to have to deal with a lot of rude people. However, I can take just a minute to smile, make eye contact, and say something sincerely nice to them. It really does mean a lot.

Profound ponderings… “I will hold myself to a standard of grace, not perfection.” – from Make it Happen
