Daybook for September 12th

Outside my window… it’s in between summer and fall for now. Still warm, but the air is crisp at night and in the morning.

I am thinking… over some recently read articles. Pondering a lot of things related to education.

I am thankful for… Little Guy cutting a tooth! I’m excited and sad all at the same time. I love watching them grow, but wish that they didn’t grow up quite so fast…

From the learning rooms… Mr. Q read a word today!!! Being there when my kids learn to read is priceless!

From the kitchen… Creamy Ham and Potato Pie. An Emeril recipe that is perfect for cooler weather. It’s just as delicious as it sounds too.

I am wearing… black (non-stretch!) pants and a blue t-shirt.

I am creating… actually I finished the ruffly pink scarf with thousands of stitches to bind off. I’m back to thicker yarn and the chocolate brown sweater.

I am going… to try and dodge the drool from the baby sitting on my lap. More teeth are likely on the way.

I am reading… still bits and pieces of One Thousand Gifts interspaced with articles from recently acquired homeschooling magazines.

I am hoping… that autumn does not turn into winter too quickly.

I am hearing… a baby who has discovered that his vocal cords are capable of LOUD sounds.

Pondering these words… “People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slid toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated.” – D. A. Carson

Around the house… a stargazer lily bloomed quite unexpectedly this weekend. I’d given up on the bulbs that I planted this spring, but this one surprised me. I think there is a metaphor in there somewhere.

One of my favorite things… conversations with Aaron.

A few plans for the rest of the week: I’ll probably be pulling out some fall/winter clothes for the kids. Didn’t I just pack those up?
