Daybook for July 2nd

Outside my window… the tiger lilies are starting to bud and a few are blooming.

I am thinking… about last minute party details before tomorrow, and wondering how it’s possible that Mr. Q will be six years old. I used to roll my eyes when mothers said stuff like, “It seems like yesterday he was just a baby!” I get it now.

I am thankful for… electricity when so many are without.

From the learning rooms… New planner! New planner! New planner! I love starting a new planner, even though the planning seems a bit daunting at times!

From the kitchen… LEGO cakes are finished and waiting for the party tomorrow. The proportions are definitely off, but as Mr. Q loves how they turned out it doesn’t really matter.

I am wearing… black pants and a pink LL Bean t-shirt. I love LL Bean. I wish I could buy my whole wardrobe from them.

I am creating… mittens for myself. The yarn is called “Nevermore” and the classic literature fan in me just couldn’t pass up a skein. Summer is the best time to knit mittens because they are small and that way you have them ready to go once the weather turns cold.

I am going… to have to get some serious reading done in the next couple of days.

I am reading… Firebird and my review is due on Friday, eek!

I am hoping… and praying that the floods and fires stop soon.

I am hearing… Munchkin and my IT staff watching Star Trek in the next room.

Pondering these words… “You can worry. Or you can trust God. You can’t do both.” – Unknown

Around the house… the dining/school room inventory and re-organization is underway. It’s true what they say, it looks worse before it looks better… much worse!

One of my favorite things… is little traditions that my Mom started and I get to continue with my kids. They get to pick out what kind of cake they want me to make, and they get to choose any flavor of ice cream that they want for their birthday.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Birthday Party!!!
