Daybook for December 5th

Outside my window… our resident muskrats are building a cute little home on the other side of the pond. Munchkin thinks that they are married.

I am thinking… that maybe Mommy needs a nap too today!

I am thankful for… the chance to go shopping with just Mr. Q over the weekend.

From the learning rooms… December break!

From the kitchen… a gumdrop update: They came out OK. The texture is much softer than store-bought gumdrops, probably because they are much fresher. Cutting them was a bit of a pill, but Munchkin rolled them in sugar for me, and we had fun anyway. My sister’s not fond of them because of the texture. I like them OK, and my kids LOVE them.

I am wearing… jeans and a cabled sweater.

I am creating… a zoo. Actually, only two sock monkeys, four elephants and one rag doll. Can you tell I’m sewing for Christmas?

I am going… to see some of Mom’s family this weekend. The kids are looking forward to playing with some of their cousins!

I am reading… does Pinterest count? I’m getting lots of my Christmas ideas from there!

I am hoping… the color by number pages I printed out will keep my art

I am hearing… my kiddos chatting, asking questions, and playing. (Where do they get so many questions?!?)

Pondering these words… “Children will not remember you for the material things you provided, but for the feeling that you cherished them.” –Richard L. Evans

Around the house… my trusty sewing machine has been running a lot this past week. It was a Christmas gift from my IT staff a few years back, and I can’t tell you how much use (and enjoyment) I’ve gotten out of it!

One of my favorite things… a hot cup of tea.

A few plans for the rest of the week: More sewing, knitting and cooking for Christmas! We are also really enjoying reading through Ann Voskamp’s A Jesus Advent Celebration.
