Daybook for December 13th

Outside my window… the rain is melting the snow away and that makes me a bit sad.

I am thinking… about making the German Shepherd’s homemade dog bones today so that they have time to dry out a bit before Christmas.

I am thankful for… card games with friends.

From the learning rooms… more addition and subtraction! Larger numbers! The last week spent on curriculum before Christmas.

From the kitchen… a homemade calzone for lunch! My husband mentioned that he’d like me to make another one sometime while we were grocery shopping and it really does sound good!

I am wearing… maternity clothes that finally fit. The only downside is that I already feel huge, but I have 16 weeks to go!

I am creating… sweaters for my little ones and a bit of sewing for Christmas.

I am going… to hopefully be at home this week with no appointments to take someone to the dentist!

I am reading… lots of books with my kids! Their grandmother came up with the wonderful idea of wrapping up one picture book for each day until Christmas as sort of an advent calendar. We have had great fun taking turns picking out the book to be unwrapped and reading them together!

I am hoping… that we at least have a little snow for Christmas. I guess I have enough of my Mom in me to want a white Christmas!

I am hearing… Aaron working at his computer and the kids in the next room coloring and watching a video about trucks.

Pondering these words… “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Around the house… there is always plenty to do! The Christmas tree looks lovely though, and the stockings hung in the upstairs hall make me smile when I walk past them.

One of my favorite things… hot cocoa after playing outside with the kids.

A few plans for the rest of the week: I’ll be working on finishing up some gift projects and planning out the baking that I’ll be doing next week. Also thinking about what to do for “school” the next two weeks with Munchkin! We can’t just “take it off” because she will ask to “do school”! Perhaps those two weeks would be a good time for review and extra writing practice.
