Daybook for December 12th

Outside my window… it’s dark and wintry. There’s a nice chill in the air, and some crunchy snow on the ground.

I am thinking… about an idea I have for a short story.

I am thankful for… a lovely visit with family this weekend.

From the learning rooms… December break for the most part, but Mr. Q still asks to do a reading lesson some days, so I pull out the book and we do a reading lesson! Munchkin is practicing her penmanship by copying Christmas carols.

From the kitchen… vinegar is infusing and I’ve just finished scrubbing labels off a bunch of glass bottles.

I am wearing… jeans, turtleneck and I’ve borrowed one of Aaron’s warm jacket/shirts.

I am creating… odds and ends that I’m finishing up for Christmas gifts.

I am going… to be staying in and relaxing with the kiddos this week.

I am reading… not much more than blogs, stuff for reviews and kids’ books! I have my eye on a novel that I want to order though… Maybe I’ll do some recreational reading after the new year.

I am hoping… that I get these fingerless mitts finished up in the next day or two. The sprained wrist a week ago set me back a bit.

I am hearing… Aaron’s music playing and the coal stove humming.

Pondering these words… “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein

Around the house… so many things to do in the kitchen in the next couple of weeks!

One of my favorite things… cooking up gifts from my kitchen for the people I love.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Finishing up some projects for Christmas, trying to catch up a bit on my writing, and definitely enjoying a few Christmas movies with the kiddos!
