Teish Knits -

Daybook for August 6th

Outside my window… the heat and wind make for a higher risk of forest fires right now.

I am thinking… and wondering why the German Shepherd who won’t try to catch mice when they run by her, caught a bat right out of the air last night.

I am thankful for… air conditioning.

From the learning rooms… we are finishing up the last few weeks of our current “academic year” and come September we will have “new book day”. That’s when the kids get their new books and school supplies. I’m reading through a lot of curriculum right now.

From the kitchen… I’m thinking of baking today. I know, that sounds absolutely crazy in this heat.

I am wearing… denim shorts and a purple t-shirt. I usually prefer capris to shorts, but this summer has been too warm for anything else.

I am creating… a file/supply holder made out of an old dish drainer! I spray-painted it glossy black and picked up some cute file folders. It looks great and is a perfect fit for the file folders.

I am going… to have to figure out how meal planning fits in when it’s really hot and humid.

I am reading… curriculum and books about teaching. Though I happen to know that a friend will be publishing his new book soon, and I’ll definitely be making time to read that!

I am hoping… that the IT staff turned bat-catcher has found the spot where the bats have been getting into our house. I’m really hoping that we’ve seen the last of the bats flying about the bedrooms at night!

I am hearing… boys playing with LEGOs while Munchkin practices spelling words.

Pondering these words… “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.” – Unknown

Around the house… the stargazer lily that I was so excited about succumbed to the heat before actually blooming.

One of my favorite things… Camo asking if he can “do school” just because he enjoys working with numbers.

A few plans for the rest of the week: the usual, with laundry thrown in of course!
