Daybook for August 27th

Outside my window… the bright sunshine is keeping the outdoor temps firmly in the 80s.

I am thinking… about future blog posts. So many ideas are swirling around in my mind!

I am thankful for… a chance to make some memories that I hope my kids will treasure for years to come.

From the learning rooms… so many people posting about back to school this week and last week. We won’t celebrate “New Book Day” until September though. I prefer to start our new “school year” in September even though most schools start in August now. I still remember when I was a kid and school didn’t start until after Labor Day!

From the kitchen… still too warm for me to want to turn the oven on too much. But I do admit that the prospect of cooler days and a nice bowl of corn chowder appeals to me.

I am wearing… denim shorts, pink t-shirt, and the purple crocs. It’s still summer after all.

I am creating… a cozy shawl. It may still be summer, but autumn is creeping closer!

I am going… to be glad to get back into a more regular schedule next month. I’m still pondering how best to tweak it and make sure I have regular writing time.

I am reading… Unseen by John Hileman, and a book about economics to review.

I am hoping… that basic italic handwriting will be a better fit for Camo. I’ve used basic manuscript handwriting with the oldest two, but I’ve discovered that the italic style of printing more closely resembles my own printing. Hopefully that will make it easier for me to teach too!

I am hearing… kiddos playing together and a wonderful singer called Ramin Karimloo. He played the Phantom in the 25th anniversary performance of Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall. I watched the DVD with my sister this weekend and was so impressed with his performance that I’ve been listening to some of his other work.

Pondering these words… “Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you.” – Unknown

Around the house… I’m in the process of getting the camping gear ready for winter storage. Sleeping bags to wash and Rubbermaid totes to pack up!

One of my favorite things… is creamy vanilla yogurt on a warm summer day.

A few plans for the rest of the week: I’ll be getting the camping gear squared away and sorting out some last minute lesson planning.
