Happy Constitution Day!
It crossed my mind to write some sort of post appropriate to the holiday. Alas, I had other writing that needed to be done, and I seem to be slightly lacking in blog inspiration as of late.
I have been writing. It’s just not writing that is public yet. (Nope, not a book either… not yet anyway!) Still, I have been spending a fair amount of time writing and researching for potential projects. It still amazes me the amount of research that goes into good writing!
I’ve also been spending a lot of time the past two weeks doing “lessons” with my kids. (I almost hate to refer to our formal lessons as their education, because their education includes so much more than just that!) The past couple of weeks of lessons have been enjoyable for all of us, and I’ve come to the conclusion that my children are brilliant. I know that all mothers are somewhat biased, but my kids really amaze me! Mr. Q is taking to reading so well. I hadn’t expected him to pick it up this quickly, and I hope that it continues in this manner for him. Munchkin continues to make progress in reading and penmanship and seems to have a real flair for math. Camo listens in whenever I’m reading aloud and he does a few preschool worksheets most days. I keep them handy for the days that he asks to do them. We are all enjoying studying the Bible, History and Science. It’s been fun to see the three subjects overlapping somewhat. And I love the fact that Munchkin is associating what we learn in one, with what we learn in another subject!
There really is so much going on right now, and I’m figuring out how all of the pieces fit together. I want a holistic life. I don’t want a dozen different compartments. I want everything to be connected and interrelated. Just like Munchkin putting together the pieces of what she’s learning and seeing how it’s all part of the bigger picture.
